Hair restoration & regrowth
Medical assessment and regenerative treatments for thinning hair, for women and men.
For PRP, a typical course is around three treatments spaced a few weeks apart, followed by occasional maintenance. Your plan is tailored to your assessment.
What it is
Hair restoration at Skinfresh combines medical assessment with regenerative treatments for thinning hair, for women and men. Rather than reaching straight for a product, Dr Frances Pitsilis and the nurses look for what may be driving the thinning, since hair loss is often a sign of something else in the body. Treatment can include regenerative options such as PRP (platelet-rich plasma) alongside support for any underlying factors.
Who it suits
Women and men noticing thinning hair, a widening part or reduced volume, particularly where hormonal, nutritional or health factors may be involved. Please note that PRP is not suitable for people who have cancer; if this affects you, Dr Frances will talk through other ways we can support you.
Benefits and results
- Looks for underlying causes such as hormonal, thyroid, iron or nutritional factors, not the hair alone
- Regenerative options including PRP, which uses your own platelets
- A personalised plan combining internal health support with hair-focused treatments
What to expect
Assessment reviews your health history and hormonal and nutritional factors, with blood testing where appropriate. A personalised plan may combine nutritional and hormone support with regenerative treatments such as PRP. For PRP, a small sample of your blood is prepared and the platelet-rich portion is used to support the treated area. Options are generally wider when thinning is addressed early.
Common questions
What causes hair thinning?+
There are many possible causes, including menopause and hormonal change, thyroid problems, iron or nutritional deficiency, stress and illness, rapid weight loss, some medications and genetic factors. Identifying the cause is an important first step.
What is PRP?+
PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, uses a small sample of your own blood. It is prepared so the platelet-rich portion can be used in the treated area to support the body's own repair processes.
Who should not have PRP?+
PRP is not suitable for people who have cancer. It is also not suitable for those with certain bleeding or clotting problems, some medications, active infection at the site, or during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Suitability is always assessed with care at consultation.
