Belkyra Treatment

This is an FDA approved injectable treatment that dissolves under chin fat (double chin). This product started its life as Kybella in the USA a few years ago but has been marketed under the new name of Belkyra in other countries.

The active ingredient is deoxycholic acid (gall bladder juice) which is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that breaks down fat. When injected into the fat beneath your skin, Belkyra causes the destruction of fat cells.

This is a painful treatment that costs around $1600 per treatment. It also carries with it a period of pain and the risk of numerous side effects including bruising and nerve damage.

FAQ's

How does truSculpt 3D work?

The under chin hand-piece is placed statically over the skin while the safe radiofrequency energy targets the fat beneath. Skin temperature is continuously monitored so that the right temperature is delivered to the fat to cause fat cell damage and ultimately, fat cell death.

Who is best suited to truSculpt 3D?

This treatment is suitable for people with a BMI between 22-28. This may not be strictly necessary for double chin treatment.

How many treatments are needed?

Two to four treatments, 4-6 weeks apart. The more fat the more treatments.

What does the treatment feel like?

It feels like a 'hot stone massage'. The treatment is comfortable, and most even describe it as relaxing.

What happens during the treatment?

Our TruSculpt handpiece generates on the skin, delivering targeted pulses of calibrated RF energy. Each pulse averages 4 minutes in duration.

Is there skin tightening with truSculpt 3D treatments?

Yes – although the radiofrequency heat is attracted to the fat, it also tightens the skin on its way through. Clients may wish to have extra non-invasive tightening with Titan, Laser Genesis, and Vampire Facial as well. Dermal fillers can also help to contour the jawline.

What aftercare advice is given?

You should maintain your ideal weight as well as a healthy lifestyle with exercise and diet. Any gain in body fat will cause existing fat cells all over your body to enlarge while leaving your body contours the same.
